Educating with Imagery“Pictometry’s oblique imagery is aerial photos on steroids... It does not matter if I am using it to explain a simple geographic concept in GIS, an active shooter in my crime mapping class, or the impact of flooding in my Emergency Management class, the imagery grabs students’ attention and helps them think in a more spatial way.” - Dr. Tom Mueller “We plan to integrate the use of Pictometry into our Advanced GIS classes and make it the basis of the Photogrammetry sections of the remote sensing classes. Additionally, we hope to use the software for student research projects ranging on issues as diverse as planning, ecology, coastal processes and building/infrastructure inventories. “ -- Norman S. Levine, Associate Professor At Pictometry, we believe so passionately in value of visual information we are launching a new education program for colleges, universities and professional training academies. The purpose of the program is to provide students, faculty and working professionals with access to high resolution digital aerial imagery and sophisticated analytical tools that they can use to provide solutions within their application area. To date, approximately 30 colleges and universities have already had exposure to Pictometry’s technology on an introductory basis and the program will soon be opened to potential participants on a broad geographic scale and across multiple disciplines. Pictometry will provide technical assistance with initial start-up and provide materials along with ongoing curriculum support to program participants. Programs can include the following:
