General Questions and Answers

Will Pictometry pay honoraria or other costs to breakout speakers?
Travel, housing and per diem costs are the responsibility of the presenter(s). Pictometry does not reimburse any expenses for Conference breakout session speakers other than your conference registration fees (which will be waived if you are selected).

How many applications can I submit?
The call for speakers is a competitive process. Each presenter or organization is limited to two applications on different topics.

Will applications be accepted through the U.S. mail?
No. We will only accept proposals electronically through this Web application in order to preserve a consistent format for the application.

When should I expect to hear if I've been accepted?
Pictometry will select speakers on or before May 22, 2008, and notify all applicants of their status (accepted or not) by that time.

Will I need to submit my actual workshop presentation and in what format?
We ask that your presentation be electronic and that you insert your presentation into the FutureView 2008 PowerPoint Template that Pictometry will provide. Final presentations must be submitted to Pictometry at least 45 days prior to the event. All PowerPoint slides will be included in the attendee Conference Book, which will be distributed at registration.

How will I present my course/workshop and what will be supplied by Pictometry?
Speakers are responsible for the actual presentation of their workshop. Pictometry will provide a projector for presenter's laptop, a screen and a whiteboard. All rooms will be set classroom-style. Pictometry will try to accommodate other room arrangements if attendance numbers permit. Pictometry will also provide a facilitator for each workshop who will introduce the presenter, take notes throughout the workshop and close the workshop with a 15-minute Q&A period. Pictometry will make PowerPoint presentations and notes available to attendees at a password-protected location on the Pictometry Web site after the event.

What should I expect in developing handout materials?
We require handouts to be submitted 60 days prior to the conference to allow time for them to be reproduced and shipped to the program venue. Speakers are responsible for obtaining copyright permission for all handouts (if applicable). Some breakout sessions may be audio or video taped. If you desire, presentation and handout materials can be available to participants in electronic form at the conclusion of the event (password-protected access). Pictometry cannot reproduce handouts not received by deadline.

Do I need to register for the Conference? Can I obtain a room at the host hotel?
All presenters must register for FutureView 2008 at least one month prior to the event, using the standard registration form, even though no registration fee is required. Each presenter will be given a "presentation discount code" to use when registering. Providing room block is not filled, presenters may obtain a room at the host hotel (at Pictometry negotiated rates) by indicating this request on the above-mentioned registration form and paying for such room. If room block is filled, Pictometry will make every effort to confirm a room at a nearby hotel. Discounted airline reservations may also be requested on the registration form.

Can I promote products or services in my presentation?
It is prohibited for presenters to promote their own product within an educational session. Presenters may discuss the use of a product or service within the context of a case-study presentation only. Resource lists for participants must show multiple resources and not focus only on one product. Presenters with products they wish to promote are encouraged to use alternate methods of promotion such as exhibits, sponsorship, advertising and/or hospitality suites.

What attendees are saying
The best way I can describe Future View is it's like riding a rocket. Literally, from day one, the conversations with people the first night we were here, through every single session. My mind was on overcharge. But, riding a rocket is the only way I can describe it. It's better than white water and white water is fantastic.

Riding rocket into technology that will continue to change the way we live in our county.
Jack Maguire - Planning/GIS Manager - County of Lexington, South Carolina

It is an eye opening experience for me to be at Future View. A revolution is taking place in the geo spatial industry here at Pictometry.
